Junior Hockey
This is where a career in hockey begins, whether it’s just to take part in an enjoyable & rewarding team-sport, or to go ‘all the way’ to maybe one day becoming an elite hockey player!
Old Silhillians is a ClubMark Accredited club, we are recognised as one of the best Junior hockey clubs in the Midlands, providing a high standard of coaching. Our staff includes County Hockey Coaches, Midlands Coaches & England Hockey Coaches, plus our Coaching Coordinator is the head of grassroots coaching for England.
Coaching & Activities
• Our certified staff provide hockey coaching for boys and girls aged 4 to 18
• We arrange matches against local teams for Under 8s upwards
• Our players from U10 to U18 can participate in County and National competitions
We encourage & develop the skills and confidence of our juniors with the opportunity for players aged 12+ to be introduced to 11-a-side hockey games alongside older players. Transport to games can be provided with safeguarding protocols followed.
Coaching & Match Times
The UK hockey season runs for 30 weeks from September to April, with a winter break between mid December and mid January.
How to Join (Junior Player)
A junior may have played before or just want to try hockey for the first time, either way we’ll give them a friendly welcome, and quickly get them playing hockey with children of a similar age & standard.
To introduce a junior, just fill out this online Introduction form and the relevant age group coach will contact you - we can answer any questions you have and potentially make arrangements for the junior to attend a hockey training session, these are on Sunday mornings from 10am (during the hockey season).
If the junior decides they want to train and play Hockey at Silhillians, we’ll get them registered as a member and they can start attending training on a weekly basis.
Membership Fees
Should a junior decide to join the club, an annual membership fee applies, this is a set fee for one year's worth of hockey, and it is usually paid as a one-off fee at the start of the season in September. We also offer the following payment terms to make playing hockey as accessible as possible:
